I have a dum question. Is a crankshaft from a turbo engine and a non-turbo engine the same? and if is not then what is the difference?
Thanks

No, but if your lucky enough to find a late model 3.8 or a early 80s 4.1 V6, you may find the same crank in those motors.

The main difference is that the turbo cranks have rolled filet journals on both the mains and the rods. Most n/a cranks I've seen just have the rolled filets on the mains.

Is a front wheel drive 3.8 turbo engine block and heads, the same as a 3.8 turbo rear wheel drive, block and heads?.

There is no Buick 3.8 front-drive turbo motor.

Only 4.1 Buick V-6 and 3.8 turbo motors came originally with rolled fillet cranks.

The V-6 4.1 motor came in BOP and Cadillacs early and mid-'80's
full size and G-body cars.

Nick....The 84 or 85? (can't remember) Turbo Riviera came with a Turbo Crank, and the same motor that was in the Hot-Air Turbo Buicks...so YES GM did make a FWD Turbo Motor....was it neck breaking fast?.......no

Well, the Riv motor I looked at a while back was not in a car, but the crank/flywheel flange was different? So that may be the exception.

I've been told the "8445" casting heads can also be found on the 3.0 liter front wheel drive mid-80s centurys.

Yes, the Riviera with the 3.8 SFI turbo motor was front wheel drive, but wasn't the motor in there placed in the normal orientation instead of transverse mounted?

Yes the 84-85's used a standard 3.8L hot air turbo motor with a 4 speed auto mounted longitudinally. Turbo rivs are very rare. 1986 was the first year for the transverse arangement in the smaller Riv.
