Anyone know of a decently high pressure in line oil filter with 4AN-6AN fittings on it? :)

Anyone ever hear or see one on a turbo oil feed line?

TIA

Magnefine performance edition filter

Hi, Salvage V6 :

I have the billet aluminum magnefine inline filter on my turbo oil feed line

IT has AN-6 males on each end, It uses the same paper element and magnetic ring trap as their inline transmissions filter, IT is a high precision quailty piece, and is field serviceable , It has a optional quality mounting bracket,

due a search on magnefine, and go to the emerging technologies web page, the click on the online store icon. You can see it there,

Good luck, hope that helps

Installed the Magnefine billet oil filter inline with the feed line today. Works great.

Also installed some Mobil 1 onsale at NAPA for $4.09qt.

Recommended by Innovative Turbo folks for my application.

Used the 10-30 so I'm probably down a quart already, and up a quart on the driveway. ;)

Turbo made it over 100 miles so far.

BOV will be later on as they didn't see that as a big issue at the builders but said it wouldn't hurt.

Lotsa plumbing on that turbo now.

GOOD for you, I glad you got one

Just wondering how you came off the block adapter, that thing has one female 1/4 NPT on the 90 for the oil pressure fuel pump 3 prong switch and 7/16"-24 inverted flare on the staight through end for the old oil steel oil feed line, also that brass adapter has a 5 mm restrictor orffice build in on the block male nipple end,
I made a new adapter from a 1/8" npt brass female tee, used a 1/8" nipple swtich instead of the 1/4" nipple switch, put a an-maleX1/8"male npt on one end, and short close 1/8" nipple and 1/4" to 1/8" female concentric reducer on the block end.

The easy way......

My Double Ball Bearing Turbo doesn't use much oil and is a huge restriction in the line over a stocker and my PTE51's and TA62.

I know this since my oil pressure gauge is tied into the turbo feed fitting and went up about 15psi. hot oil temps.

Normal for a ball bearing feed system luckily. :)

So I used the stock feed line into a 1/4" flare to 1/8" NPT fitting and upped that to 1/4" NPT to the 3/8" flared SAE or AN fitting line to the filter. Out of that went back down with similar adapters to 1/8" NPT into the turbo.

Took me all afternoon to rig up and looks way ugly but works well.

Tied the filter to the A/C hard line where it's insulated down below the battery. Hoses are tied off securely to my alky. bracket and other stuff along the 3 foot round trip in and out of the stock stuff.

I doubt I would change the feed system even with a typical turbo, never had much of a volume problem with the stock lines that I could tell.

I'll try and get some pics. up of the mess tomorrow. :D

I think 7/16" is the nut size to the feed line pipe which itself is 1/4" OD pipe. Pretty sure that's how you measure that flared pipe stuff.

At least I think that's the fitting I used onto the stock feed line to go to NPT.

1/8" ID on that metal line approximately.

Where did u get the filter and how much ?

Thanks

Louie

I've done a little searching around (by no means definitive), and I see that filter and the one with hose barbs mentioned with transmission fluid and power steering fluid, but I haven't seen anyone list it for engine oil. I'm just concerned about high backpressure and low flow. Have you seen and recommendations by Magnefine themselves?

Switched to Mobil 1 per my turbo makers recommendation. That stuff is like water compared to dino oil. ;)

Don't use HV pumps just a booster plate so oil pressure never goes over 80 psi. max. cold startup.

I would be a bit more concerned with dino oil and HV applications with ultra high pressures.

Similar to tranny pressures when hot.

Flows plenty for my application. :)

Doesn't seem to be increased or decreased pressure at the turbo.

I will check the filter closely when I rebuild it probably at 10K miles.

I was concerned about the flow with other oils but after removing the outlet line and cranking the car I decided to use it.

Any problems y'all will hear about them. I didn't bother questioning Magnefine for the application.

Thanks for reposting the exact page I did. :D

I don't mind being a guinea pig on this one, Hey Blackhawk38 how many miles on yours and did you ever rebuild it yet and check out the filter?

What oil too? :)

Here's some pics. of the final filter installation.

Long hoses used because the braided 3/8" stuff doesn't bend easily and one was already made up that length. :)

Cheesy hinge bracket fits to support the feed fittings and hose so nicely I couldn't take it off. ;)

Did that part when it was getting dark and all I had to do was drill a larger hole for the 10mm turbo shield bolt in it and it went right into place.

Bunch of other turbo pics. and whatnot in that folder too.

Swapped out the Magnefine filter cartridge today with the first new Mobil 1 oil change on the car.

Used about a quart and a half unfortunately between changes. :(

3K miles and the Magnefine filter was still completely intact and it looked like the oil was going though it and not the bypass after cutting it in half.

Magnet picked up a few fine particles etc. so that is helping too.

Put the new filter in and will probably change them out every 2 oil changes from now on.

New Baldwin B9 was installed too.

BOV is on the back burner. ;)

Looks like a lot of unnessesary $hit to me. What is the upgrade differance between single and double BB? Is there any? I'm sold on the single BB. Tough as they get and spools like mad. Cheaper too. What up with the water cooled center section? Another waste, unless your road racin or pullin a barge. Especially using synthetic oil, I don't even run the oil cooler. It's just not nessesary. One more question, with all that $hit, is it fast?

I got mine for the same price as a single, one day sale... :)

Water cooled center section is not a waste and recommended with the dual ball bearings, adds less than 3 pounds and cost about $20 to do.

Never took the oil cooler off so I can't tell you the differences in temps. with it on or off. My oil stays around 180 on street and about 205 after a pass when I go to the track.

You have much more sh!t on your car so you tell me if it's fast.

Back to the oil filters, I think they work. :)

Lots of dirt on the roads out there this winter for sure.
