turbo fit

Do you need to get a turbo that is made for our cars? I have a buddy that has a old turbo(te-44 i think)he went to a bigger one on his 87 GN. I know the old turbo is a aftermarket one. It would be nice if it would fit on my car. thanks

the bad part about that one is the te part theres nowere to bolt the throttle body too.
