I have Turbo link 3.0, Not sure if this is a problem or not seeing how I only have 1 GN. My 4th gear light is always on!? even when the car is in park. The P/N light is lit as well as the 4th gear light.

Anyone have any idea what might cause this. Car seems to run fine.

Thanks in advance.

Frank

Although that was a problem in the first release of v4.0, it wasn't (to my knowledge) in v3.0.

IT HAS BEEN FIXED IN V4.0 AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST VERSION FOR FREE FROM THE UPGRADES SECTION OF THE TURBOLINK DISCUSSION GROUP

That said, check to see that the plug on the side of the transmission ... if it is missing a wire (it should have 4) or if it is loose, then that may be the problem.

As far as the P/N light ... that could be misadjusted in the steering column.

Very interesting, I wouldn't have suspected the s/w as the problem. I did connect TL to another GN and found that his worked the right way. Could it be a problem from ECM to ECM?

I did swap out my ECM with another ECM and found the situation to be the same however, it was from the GN that was working properly. I guess that should be my next move.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just to be clear ... I don't think it's the software.

There is no difference between ECMs. It's most likely with the car/wiring.

The initial release of 4.0 had a bug in the config file that caused switch values (like gear switches and rich/lean) to be defaulted. It also did it when importing files from v2 or v3... it's been fixed.

V3.0 didn't have the problem.

SO... I doubt it's the ECM (although if you can swap, that'd be a good test in case something is amiss there). I'm guessing it's the wiring harness to the transmission.

I missed this...

I did check the plug on the side of the tranny and sprayed electical cleaner just in case... All 4 plugs are present and seem tight.

just for clarification the P/N switch was only lit when in park or neutral. I was just trying to make the point that the 4th gear light was still lit when the car was in park.

If that's the case then YOUR s/w found a problem that was never evident before, cool beans! My car does go into overdrive when it should so the problem may be more a nuisance then an actuall problem with my tranny.

Yep, these types of things are a nuisance .... as the cars age, the wiring seems to get more and more problematic.

The harness that goes around the transmission is often stretched or broken so look at it really carefully. Where the plug goes into the transmission also can get dirty and corroded.

The light being "ON" usually indicates an open circuit.
