cant stop this leaking from the base of the turbo. Correct gasket and bolts, still leaks. do you guys ever use sealent on this joint? Not entirely happy using anything sticky that close to an oilway.

I have always used a thin coat of Permatex on the gasket just for reassurance. Have you checked to see if the line is cracked at all?

After replacing 2 gaskets between the turbo and oil drain line,i ended up using some silicone with the gasket to finally stop the leak on my oil drain line

Check your line for leaks and make sure your surface is clean or just get a new line and be done with it.

Think the key is to let whatever sealant you use have a chance to set up completely before starting it up. Works for me.

One of the problems is the hose flange that attaches to the bottom of the turbo is no longer flat. The bolt holes have been pulled tight but leave a crown at the drain in the middle of the flange. Take the hose completaely off and temporarily seal the ends to keep filings out and file it flat. New gasket and it should seal perfect.

if the return line is cracked, look into getting a braided steel line from one of the many vendors to this sight, better quality piece and i believe they are cheaper then the stock replacments.

Well guys, thanks for the many responses. Looks like some of you have been at this issue before! Never occurred to me that the flange may have gotten out of shape, I'll check that and also try a sealent.
The pipe doesn't appear to be cracked, the leak is stemming from the front of the seal.Looks like an aftermarket replacement will be good, but being in the UK means waiting for parts so i'll try the various suggestions first.
