What does side to side play mean on the turbine wheel shaft? Will it need to be rebuilt? However there is no end to end play

There should be very slight side movement, just enough to feel but not enough to clunk. How much do you have?

There is a very small amount, no noises, and it does'nt look like the turbine wheel was hitting on the compressor housing, there is also a little oil residue on the inside of the compressor housing

Click on the second link in my sig so you have a better idea. If you're not sure then send it out to a shop.

Luckily this is my back up turbo, The original one is on the car and says its only producing 5lbs of boost

Does this look ok inside

Pics are a little dark but I don't see any scaring on the wheel or housing. Looks good but you might want to take some better pics in the daylight.

LOL You've got the same issue I had when I started posting pics. Back up a little first and then crop it down. It makes for a much clearer pic. Believe me, I'm a pic whore and all the tech threads I start are full of them.

Lmao, anyway the fins look dirty but not broken, and theres no signs of anything wearing on the compressor housing

A posrted TB won't give you much of an advantage if everything is stock. It takes much more to take advantage of it.

As far as the bolts being stuck, you may have to break them to get them loose. I did on one of mine. You can drill it out and then either re-tap it or put an insert in. You will need to put it in a vice to hold it well enough to break them loose though.

I have a hypertech chip, but i would like to go to an 86/87 ECM and get a tt chip and a scan master, i also have the 86/87 coil pack and the converter, along with a cold air intake and a 2.5 inch up pipe. The up pipe made a substantial difference.

The big thing about using a bigger throttle body is that you need to have the supporting mods to make it work, like ported heads and intake. It also helps to have a larger turbo.

As far as getting the upgrade to the 86-87 puter and TT chip along with the scanmaster it's the smartest thing you can do.
