I have found bad turbo seals and it is pushing oil into the intake. Opinions please. Should I send it back to PTE for a rebuild? Buy a kit and do it myself? Use it as a core for a new or different turbo? The turbo has 22,000 miles on it. The fins do not touch the edge of the housing. Thanx in advance.

i dont consider 22k that much, id send it out for a rebuild, depending on how your skills are of rebuilding it yourself that is, its cheaper, but id rather have someone do it the right way whos job is to rebuild turbos just my two cents

people who rebuild turbos can balance the wheels, you can't. You also get experience, plus if they break a bolt off in a housing (not exactly hard to do) it's their problem, not yours. 22K's a bit bad for a turbo to die, I'd be checking your oiling system and similar, it doesn't sound right.

I had a bad experience with a cam bearing within first 500 miles. Thought I cleaned everything out good and did not have a turbosaver at the time. I was a pure rookie w/these cars back then. After repairs were made everything was fine. Chances are the damage first occured before I installed the turbo saver. Always had a slight problem w/ oil film in TB. Thought for a long time it was PCV related but it just got worse and and so I ran the PCV through a clear filter. No oil in clear filter, but oil in the TB still. Got to be turbo.
