turbo recommendation

ok I had posted a few weeks ago on what turbo to go with my future setup as I am planning everything out now to get ready for the winter months and be running back in spring

I am getting 50lbers and I figured since they max out at about 600hp, let me get a turbo to match that
so heres what I am looking for
a turbo that has the stock appearance TA
and supports roughly 600hp or so

I was thinking something of the TA5X whatevers but someone told me that there was a problem with rebuilding the 50s or something

one I did find was a TA-61 I think
anyone have experience with that, it seems to match pretty good?

Do you have any other mods besides what is in your combo listed in your post? If not, then you have the wrong idea as far as matching the turbo to the maximum power rating of the injectors. Just because you have enough fuel for 600hp, doesnt mean you need to get a turbo that says "will support 600 hp". From your combo litsed, I would go with a TA-49 or TA-60. I've had both. When I had a mostly stock combo (like yours), I was going 12.0's all day long with the TA-49. I upgraded the heads/cam and went to a TA-60 (which really isnt much bigger at all) and noticed some lag. If you have a stock torque convertor (or one less than 3000 stall), then get the TA-49.

Yeah get a 49 and max that out first. It will take you a lot longer than you think. You can always sell it in a year or two if necessary. Takes a lot more than a turbo and injectors. Thats why I am still slow

I didnt think to post the rest of the mods that I plan on using

ported and bored TB and Plenum
champion intake
champion ported irons
probably about a 3200 stall converter
transmission shift kit
debating on V2 front mount or a stock placement intercooler
this was to make up the rest of the combo equation

by the way my sig is a little off and should be updated
I have and LS1 MAF with translator and alky kit to add to that

Maybe it's just me but I would go with the Ta 61 or even a Ta 63. I run a 60 series turbo with a D5 and spool-up's not to bad with an upgraded I/C. With you having the better converter and ported heads I would go with a bigger turbo.
