My brother in law is a huge VW/Porsche guy and has a ton of respect for my GN. I dont think Ive ever met anyone that didnt, its strange how word gets around about these cars.
Anyway, did anyone notice this huge tool's post:
"My dad owns an 87 GN that he walked down the line at Buick. He worked at Buick for 32 years and still owns the car with only 21,000 miles on the clock. The thing still smells new and he had the boys on the line throw in all the extra crap to the interior too so its quite rare.
With only very slight modifications and some slicks he can easily run in the high 12's, but he hasnt raced it in years. Some things to consider is that the tranny is quite weak. once you start running in the low 11's high 10's you will start blowing transmissions up.
He does remember the day they quite building the GN. Some guys from Chevrolet (Corvette division) came in an shut them down because word got out that they were way under rated in HP and Torque and were blowing corvette's off the street (GM couldnt have that kind of competition). He was standing in engineering when it all went down.
I do recommend going with an 87 but throw on an 86 grill. The 87 had chrome accents but 86 was all just black. It looks killer on my dads 87. "
What a moron, if i remember correctly GM actually built some extra 87 GN's to satisfy demand. The Corvette workers didnt come in a "shut them down" haha. Of course he got the 86-87 grille thing mixed up too.
