Hey guys, I'm running a turbo saver and have been using the wix51060R racing filter with my car as of late. 2 things I have questions about....first, it says on the carton that the filter comes in..... do not use on street driven vehicles. For racing only. Then it goes on to say may cause premature engine wear if used for daily driving. WTF kind of crap is that? Arent "racing" filters made to flow better and protect better? if so, why the hell would they put that on the freaking box? Should I be using a different filter? OK, secondly... I just looked at my filter and noticed the # on it is 51061r instead of 51060r. The 51061r i looked up and its for a big block chevy. I ordered them at napa since they didnt have them in stock but the jackwagon at the parts store must have ordered the 51061r instead. When I picked them up a wk later I just ASSumed they were the correct ones because the # "looked" right based on my shit memory. Anway, I installed it 1400 miles ago without a hitch but Im concerned now. Does anyone know if Im headed for a problem and why do they look the same and fit the same if they are for different damn engines? What could the difference be?

Sorry for the long winded version but im confused and pissed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know there is tons of knowledge by the members here so someone should know something I hope.
Thanks in advance....Dave

the race filter has a higher flow because the media is less restrictive

a std filter can filter out a 10 micron particle and flow about 5-6 gph ,
the R can only filter particles over 60 microns but can flow 28 gph
i run the 51049 which is capable of 20micron and 9-11 gph , has anti drainback and no bypass

cant go by application on charts as the turbo saver changes what your car came with ..metric 18m 1.5 ..to standard 13/16 -16 threads

as to the 51060R and 51061R difference
the51060r has an anti drainback valve , the 51061R doesn't

you can see more here on wix site

Thanks for the heads up pacecarta. So, I should go with the 51049 if im driving it on the streets it sounds like. It seems to have everything I need it to do. I had no idea the 51060R only filtered over 60 micron particles. Its all so clear to me now(thanks pacecarta)

I use the WIX 51061 (non racing) I've tried several brands and types but this one gave me the best hot idle oil pressure.

Thats good info also, thanks turboclam. Im getting an education here on a subject i knew really nothing about. Hot idle oil pressure has always been a concern as well....good stuff guys ;)

Hey pacecarta, fyi... I just looked up the 51049 and it does NOT appear to say that it has an anti drain back valve but the 51060 does according to the wix link you posted above.

Either way, an anti drain back valve isn't necessary since the filter sits upright with a turbosaver
