What size turbo is perfect for a stock motor, stock cam and stock unported heads?I read that for a car going to be 95% street driven you shouldn't go bigger than the ta49/te44 because any bigger there would be to much volume of air for the stock heads, valves, cam ect.I see alot of people using PTE's new 62/62 billet turbo's with stock motors,I also see people using smaller turbo's with stock motors running just as fast.I know that it is not only the combo that makes these cars fast but the tune also.I am new to these cars and don't understand why someone would spend almost $2000(62/62 billet,BB) on these turbo's when you could get one for $600(te44 journal bearing) and go just as fast.I know that the new billet turbo's are stronger and ball bearing turbo's last longer,I think, but with tech.changing so fast in the turbo world the new billet turbo's could be absolete a year or two done the road and the old turbo tech. been getting it done for years.I would think you could take the saving, almost $1,400 and put it towards the tranny/rear end that would need to be done any way with the bigger turbo.Just trying to learn about these amazing cars and any info would be great. Thanks, ikle

5857

I spent the 1500 on my TR that is almost Identical but 42lb and TT chip . That was money well spent. 5857 BB BW is the same size wheel as the 44& 49 with more HP My ET is not where it should be 13.010 (traction) and i need to do some tuning, but on the street this car moves from the light so smooth, like a V8.My wife can even tell the difference.I have no experience with a Te 44 are Ta 49, but searches will show a stall works best with them. Just my though

te 44

Go with the 44,its cheap and has enough wind for low 11s high 10s with good heads and cam.The stock convertor will be fine.My good friend Super6 went 11.4s at 123 mph with a 44,stock conv, and slipping stock trans...........
