what are the studs on the oil return for? Does this use a different fitting?

No, Those are the studs I used to bolt to down pipe. I was making sure all threads were good when it was returned.

I studded my oil drain too, makes it much easier to install the drain. I am having a hard time finding information on this turbo, do you have any more or links?

I don't have much more info. I ordered new from Cotton. It is not a journal bearing turbo
