I have a friend that put a non-lock up converter in his trans and used a transgo kit which required him to remove the o-ring and check ball from the turbine shaft and install a new clutch valve train. By mistake he removed the tv boost valve first and apparently he didn't get the snap ring seated correctly when he put it back in. They took it out for a test drive (2-3 miles with 1 full throttle hit) and it didn't feel right so he parked it back in the garage and called me. I went over and we dropped the pan, fluid smelled burnt and there was black material at the bottom of the pan along with the boost valve and snap ring. I put it back together and cleaned the pan and lines and cooler out, put in new fluid and test drove it. Reverse seemed ok backing out of the drive, but when it went to drive it took a lot of RPM's to get it going and it felt pretty sluggish. We only went to the end of his street and back, don't know if it even shifted out of first. Anyone know if it's toast or if there is a simple fix.:D

Thanks for any help.

My guess is

Forward clutches are toast @ least and probably more damage. Not what you want to hear but my opinion.

I told him to expect the worst. It kind of sucks because he needs to have it going for the Midwest Buick Challenge in less than 2 weeks so they can get the car tuned while the "expert" is in town. I've got an extra non-lock up trans at my shop that we can put in to hopefully get him by.

Thanks for your input.

Are you from Noblesville? Talked to someone on the fone a while back from there. I hope to make it to the challange.
