Since I have my transmission on a table in pieces, I am looking at a black, grey, slimy piece of metal. I am going to great lengths to make a nice shiny engine compartment and exhaust, and the last thing I want is a grimy looking tranny to be under there messin it up. I would like to slide a mirror under there once in a while and show that I did a ton of work to this car and have somthing to show for it. What can i do or buy to make this trans shine? I know I can get a nice pan, but from where or who? What can clean the trans itself to get all the grime and stuff off? Thanks for the help guys!

John

Take the case (if the trans is apart) to any local tranny shop and ask them to run it thru there washer,If its together, Get some kinda degreaser, plug all the holes that may let anything in and scrub it with a brush and hose it off, You can get paint from most auto part stores called aluminum, and it looks great when painted
Otto

that is what i use on customer trannies

paint

I believe it is Duplicolor---Called cast aluminum----lookes great--but as KLHAMMETT said you will need to run it through a parts washer first. What about oven cleaner or carb cleaner?

Or sneak it with a can of gunk to the local do it yourself car wash:D
