I just reinstalled the bracket and lever assembly after putting the rod and spring back in. I'm assuming I put it back in right. The straight (top) portion of the rod goes into a hole in the VB. The rod slides up and down smoothly. My question is: What would make the rod and spring come loose in the first place? The mounting bolt was tight. Now I need to re adjust the TV cable.
On a side note, the trans was worked on by the dealer when I first bought the car in '87. (No reverse) Suppossedly they replaced the Torque convertor and some seals. I pulled the Inspection cover to see if I had the correct converter. Appears that I do. Has "CBCF" painted on it. BUT I found 2 loose convertor bolts! One was about half backed out, other was finger tight. Plan is to red loctite and torque to 46 ft lbs. Should be OK to "bump" the convertor around with the starter to check them all while I have no trans fluid in it, right?
