unloading the suspension

i recently purchased the x brace that mounts in trunk of the car at the seat. the instructions say to unload the suspension so the car is even when applied. if i place the car on jack stands how high does it need to be? does it have to be enough to get the wheels off or would 6 inches do? also are the best spots for the stands at the points where the car jack is placed? thanks

Yes get the car on jack stands in the factory jack locations. Get it high enough so that all four tires are off the ground.
