hello people; Just an update on my high $$ Griffin rad. I havn't been driving the Buick alot but yesterday I did. I took it to work and it was high 80's and humid. Going home the temps were getting close to 200 and after stopping to try and get a sticker it went somewhere above that. Today I brought the OTC as I don't think the gage is correct. This morning when I got to work it was 163 and it was climbing a little at idle after a mostly highway ride. Lets see what happens when I go home.
But so far the rad. I think was not worth the money.

fogot to add I had a nice ride in as I buried that 85 needle a few times now to get a few more things sorted out. I'am happy with the most recent upgrades. chip, 42lb. injectors, hotwire and pump. thanks JC

Ironically I have Alumitechs $$ radiator in mine. I too see 190ish/200 in the middle of the hot day with AC on {in traffic}. I think I'll plug the OTC at work to compare temps also. I am running stock fan on high speed with SLIC.

hello people; DaveF I think those are the temps I'am going to be seeing. The temp. gage I have mounted in that 2 gage pod that sits in the center console is off. Yesterday going home late afternoon hot and humid day the OTC read 197 at it's highest sitting idling while I was messing with the OTC. Meanwhile the pod gage was well beyond the 200.
What do you think any ideas? What's your next move? I'am leaning to that's the way of the car and the people saying the temps are as low as they say is questionable.

If it is an electric meter make sure it is wired correctly. A bad or incorrect ground will cause it to read wrong and so will a wrong sending unit. If it is only a couple of degrees off then it may be due to different sender locations.

All my gauges/sensors are VDO. I'm looking at maybe my factory fan. Although I've bypassed the low speed resistor and she runs on high only it only covers a portion of the big rad. I retained the OEM fan as to not have a huge amp draw on the electrical system. I sold my Precision FM in place of a good SLIC for better cooling purposes also. I guess a dual fan setup is in the near future. I'm not too worried, some knowledgable members have said 190/200 is'nt really too hot. But I do like seeing that 180 mark.
