I'm new to this forum and was just wondering if anyone is using any kind of upper cylinder lubricant mixed in with the alcohol? The reason I ask is because it is mentioned in some of the ads that I've seen for alcohol kits in the past. The name Uplon has been mentioned, but I don't understand what it is, where to get it , or if it is even really needed in the mix?
Any info will be helpful, Thanks.

Methanol from the track already has it in it usually.

In the SMC kit you add it to the alky. since it's a metal based pump and lubing it helps.

Available in quarts from SMC, Steve directly.

Capful per 1/2 gal. tankful is all you use.

The other issue is that if a car ran exclusively on methanol, then it would need to be added. As salvageV6 said with the SMC kit, it is needed to lube the pump.

Or if you used the Ford EFI pump...

So its a pump issue more than anything since alcohol is sprayed for brief moments and not constantly.

On the diaphram pumps, its not needed.

Thanks for the info guys.

Razor, I just bought one of your kits from "John's Performance", so I guess I won't have to worry about the lubricant. Everything looks top notch and I can't wait for it to warm up outside, so that I can get it all hooked up.
Thanks

As Mr. Burns from the Simpsons would say "Excellent" :D

No lube needed ;)
