Hey guys...
My brother put a "high performance" MAF on his '93 Camaro, leaving me the stock MAF. I've been wanting to try putting a MAF just before the TB and see what kinda performance improvement I get.

Just wondering if I should go with a Translator or a Translator Plus. By the sound of it, the plus has so many neat tuning options that it might be worth buying. I use my car for everyday street driving...I was just curious as to what kinda improvements (if any) other people have gotten with this. Should I go with a plus?
I'm really happy with my car's current performance, but I'd really like to raise efficiency as much as possible...higher MPGs would be nice (only getting 14-18mpg now!)

What do you guys think?
Anyone selling either used or have a good deal?
Would anyone be interested in a group purchase?? If there's enough people I'll try asking around. . .

There is a recent thread from Kevin at Ramchargers where members asked for a "Holiday Special" on the Translators, so let's hope they will...

:)

Bruce is the resident expert here on MAF's after the turbo. Your LT1 MAF is 3.5", not 3", so you will need the necessary step down hose no matter where you decide to put it.
A regular Translator is fine unless you want to control timing, then you need the Plus

Is the timing control worth it? It has mixture control as well, correct?
I figure it might be worth it since, I'll be using the extender chip...and I wont have anyother way to modify timing and mixture without changing the extender chip...(unless I get a pocket programmer I suppose.)

There is no chip that will be 100% correct for your car, unless you spend ALOT of time programming one specifically for it. So if you're going to use any generic chip, you're giving away HP compared to one optimized for your car.

If you want to tune your car to it's best potential, you need to be able to adjust your tune. A Translator Plus gives you the great flexibility in optimosing your setup.

Just a matter of how close you want things.

Thanks Bruce! You are awesome!
I've read it over a year ago and ever since have been planning on doing it!

How well does the MAF work at high boost and high temps??
