Using a timing light?

guys

When checking the timing on a dis system you need to set the timing light so it reads as a 2 cycle since we always have a wasted spark.

The ignition module has got to see a cam sensor signal before it every starts sending spark. the igniton uses both to start the firing cycle. The module also buffers the cam sensor signal and then sends it to the ecm. So a bad cam sensor can affect timing.

I found this out when i installed my FAST B2B system. i unplugged the cam sensor cause i didn't think i needed it. well low and behold the car would not start due to a no spark condition.

look here for it in spina's website on gn electrical

also here is another good page on ignition module and stuff 78 Malibu Fast Start Ignition System

hope this helps
