Please forgive my lack of technical terms.

I've finally got around to putting a 4.1 intake and Q-Jet on my 81 Regal (na). I can still read the vaccuum line diagram under the hood, but it doesn't show one thing.

I need to know what lines connect to the little thing on the intake manifold that has 2 ports. It's on the left side, foreward of the carb, screwed into the manifold.

I know it's a kind of temperature switch, but the correct name eludes me:confused:

Anyways, thanks for the help. If more info is needed, let me know.

Welcome back Cooper! :D

The 4.1 intake uses a differant configuration. That's a TVS, (thermal vacuum switch). Your '81 does'nt use it. Buy an oxygen sensor socket and remove it. Find something to screw into the hole for now. Use it later for a temperature gauge sending unit. Or look at my website and try my set up.

Meantime, click on the pic below of my emissions label. It's not in a very good condition but it's good enough to understand the hose routing. (I know it by heart). Any other questions just ask. I'll do the best to respond.

Thanks for the help.

Really good site, too. I just wish my motor looked as good as yours. Someday, I guess.

Now that I know what the little thing is (aka the TVS) I will definitely put a mech temp gauge in there. I've got the coolant sensor in front of the t-stat housing.

I was amazed at how easy it was to swap out the intake and carb. I really appreciate all the help you've given me both here and before.

All I need now is get a new cap/rotor/coil, t-stat, and a few more new vac lines. I can't wait. Hopefully by next week I'll have the $$ to finish. (Family before car....I can't figure my wife's priorities out at all  )

Thanks again:)
