No one knows?

How about the location of the 3rd and 4th gear switches?

Thanks,
Jim

You should have two switches 4th is on the bottom of the vb passenger side and 3rd is on the back side of vb. Check the wires for connection and/or breaks provided you have the switches and wires still. Also if it hasn't been washed off you should have BR# in pinkish ink on the side of the vb.

If they didnt test switch and it was bad or the wire is off it would never sense it either. The switches are VERY common to go bad.

I think it was bad to begin with. I *think*, and it's been a while since the damn thing has worked right, that it's always been like that (no 3rd indicator).

I dropped the pan and I have the right VB. Is replacing the switch a matter of simply unscrewing it and putting in the new one (the trans doesn't fall apart around the switch, right :) )?

If it's an easy swap (I already have the pan down), can I get a switch from you? And a filter/gasket set...

I'll give you a call today.....

Thanks,
Jim
