Hello everyone,

My car has a non BRF VB installed in it. I found a tranny from an 86 GN, but the owner of the 86 GN said that the tranny was missing D and R. Does this mean that the Valve Body is no good? Is there anyway to tell if the Valve Body is good? Can it be repaired if not? Thanks.

If the transmission is missing D and R, it's most likely a failed direct clutch in the transmission itself, not the valve body. If you're looking to swap valve bodies, make sure you keep the GN governor with the GN valve body.

Thanks for the reply! I also have another question. I can't seem to identify the current valve body. The only markings I can find are 4203 D-3, 248, and AS. Anyone know???

never seen as as acode but the other numbers are standard casting numbers .look for an ink stamp on the valve body.it will be next to the manual valve.also there is an id tag at the rear most part of the transmission .post what you find and we will try to id it.

Theres a yellow ink stamp, I think it reads CR6, or it could be PR6, something like that, its hard to read. There's also a 404 on it somewhere. Does this help?

Nobody knows what this valve body is? If I pulled it down would I be able to tell more?

its an 86 monte carlo ss vbody without the ho 305 motor .they work good up to 4700 rpms.we use them for low revving long stroke motors.

I'm pretty sure it can be modified, not sure how much cheaper it would be. Talk to Bruce @ PTS or Chris @ ckperformance.
