Maybe

Probably spring for TA valve covers and sell mine.
Going to have to stop the bleeding soon.

Crap...I was going to get that same AC delete box to retain the heat...I have GN1 heads and Champion valve covers...wonder if I would run into the same problem...who's valve covers are those...

I would really think twice before using that box....there is a helluva lot more to it than meets the eye......I'll post pics this afternoon to show whats involved with it.

Please do..if this is a real PITA I may go a different route...

Lee,
Try TA's low profile valve covers (TA V1325A). I had to use them on my car when I put their heads on. I now have more room to access the bolts on the covers than I ever did before.

I ordered TA vcs yesterday--be here next week some time. I am not highly optimistic as it is very tight. If I get the TA covers and they won't clear, I will have to redesign the box. There is a ton of work to get this box on. Quite frankly I will be surprised if it directs any heat into the cabin. IMO, it needs a lot more thought put into it. If I had it to do over, I would bite the bullet and pay whatever for a factory heat only box. I like the looks of the American Graffiti, but the jury is still out in my book. I will post when I get the TA covers.

I dont think it is going to matter, it is the same deal with the Champions and their valve covers too (when using a G body non ac box). If you put the valve covers on before you set the engine ,it fits fairly well BUT you cant get the valve cover off with out pulling the engine out! It is fairly easy to modify with a cutter and fiberglass resin and some mat.

We've been considering one of these American Graffiti boxes since they first became available. According to AG, one of the benefits of this box is improved valve cover clearance over factory boxes.
I'd be interested to hear more about the installation, fitment, and functional hassles you dealt with when installing this thing.

Thanks,
Rick

hey guys i ordered the same valve cover but i have stock heads and a g body heater only box will i run into the same problems

Here ya' go

This is a well made piece, but it needs a lotta fabrication to make it work. You need to use some parts from your existing box to make it all work....pic 1

That last pic was the firewall ready to accept the "box"...........the next pic (here) shows the cage you need to cut out of your old "box" and adhere to the aftermarket box...

........and no provision for the rubber tube off the fan itself......the company that makes these does not yet have instructions for this kit, my dad has been guinea piggin' it from the get go........once again, it is a well made made piece, but it just needs a lot of fabrication to make it work.

Still won't clear

Ta valve covers are here and they won't go on.
Looks like you were right Bill, time for me to redesign this box.
