I am doing my valve springs shortly (Comp 980s) and I figured that since I will have access to a "bare" valve guide that I should change out the 15 yearold valve seals.

What should I look for in a valve seal kit for the Buick 3.8? Can I use umbrella seals? Or am I talking about changing out some crappy O-rings?

Any advice and part numbers is very much appreciated.

I've used stock Buick replacements and Fel-Pro Viton ones which are an upgrade from the cheap Fel-Pro ones.

Both worked well on my cars so far. Only been about a year though.

GM number is 25535162 I think. :)

I used the felpro ones on my recent valve spring job. Easy to use, no problems yet. I used a deep well socket, I think like a 10 mm to make sure they were seated properly. I am sure you know, they only go on the intake side...
