I was doing some reading on this technology and figured I'd start a thread on it. Looks like aerocharger is/has been trying to develop turbos with a variable area turbine nozzle. In theory it's great, but anybody know how far this has come?

Anyway, here's a pretty cool clip I found with a quick google search. Doesn't give much technical info though, neither does the aerocharger web-site.

Enjoy!

Don't really know much about aerocharger, but I do know that Holset has been using the tech for a while. I believe someone once said its easier on deisels because of lower egts or something of that nature. I think Honda/Acura's RDX also employs this tech also. One of the hurdles are the electronics involed in controling the vanes throughout changing conditions. All this info is off the top of my head though so it may not be totally correct ;)

So why not ask EA how well the turbos work? He owns a local website kcsr.org :: Index and im not sure if he is part owner of house of boost or not???

I havent talked with him in a few years......

The shop is about 4 minutes from my house. Welcome to House of Boost : : (913) 788-3900

They do good work from what ive seen, he is a great guy to talk with, shoot him a call and ask for Eric
