VDO Boost Gauge in an Autometer A-pillar

i cant seem to get the boost gauge to line up the way i want. i am using a twin autometer A-pillar, and when i line up the boost guage the way i think the gauge will be seen the easiest the fittings where the boost line comes in hits the A-pillar peice. the way that it seems to get on there the best is if i turn the gauge so the numbers are facing the driver side window... thats not cool.

any one have any of these problems?

Does the new pod go over the original piece? If it does, maybe notch the original piece for more clearance. I'm going to my warehouse in a little while to mess on the car, if you wanna come over there.
