I just finish hooking up my VDO temp gauge and when I turn the car on the gauge quick raise to 250.

All the connection are ok......light work, the power is good, the ground is good too........sender???

check the ohms on the sender....not sure what the sender's ohms are but you can check VDO web site for the range.

Did you use any thread sealer on the sending unit. I remember reading something about VDO recommending NO sealer / tape on their sending units, something to do with grounding.

Yes I use some teflon tape like everytime I use brass fitting.
I just read the same thing about VDO gauge and grounding.....

I'll test the sender with a ground to the sender/block see if something happen

My temp gauge is still reading the max out 250.....???

The sensor is grounded good. The tip were the wire hook up wasn't, so I added a ground there. Still receive the same wrong reading.

Plus, I get fogging inside too!!

Getting feed up with VDO gauge.... they are brand new!!

The tip where the wire attaches should be for the sending unit wire going back to the gauge. If you ground this, then I would think you are grounding out the whole gauge.
I haven't noticed any fogging on my VDO gauges. Does the fog go away?

Matt

The fogging does go away, that a good thing....

Ive tried with or without and still the same.

i'm replacing all the wires and rechecking all my connection right now.

Hope I find the fix ;)
