VFN is supposed to release a Sunoco hood for third-gen Firebirds and they've posted pictures of it on their website.

Good looking or crap?

I had a sunoco hood on an LS1 Camaro a few years ago and that was cool, but it's a different body style and hood, so it's really not apples to apples.

Crap, too big and gawdy. Not stealthy looking enough for a 3rd gen...

This is for the Camaro, but you get the idea...

I don't think the scoop looks as big on the firebird version. I've given some consideration to sitting the PAS hood aside and using a fiberglass hood for a while. I'm on the fence, but I wouldn't mind doing some weight reduction on the car. It's really amazing how much weight you can remove off of the front even with bolt on stuff. Mines got virtually zero weight reduction. It may be heavier because the rear end and aftermarket torque arm etc.

Dont you have lighter 3rd gen seats? I also remember something about a lighter steering rack.. Oh.. what about those drag stars...lol:p

Yeah, it's got 4th gen seat with 3rd gen tracks. I'm over 6' tall, so that was almost a comfort mod. The 4th gen seat gives you noticeable more head and leg room. That takes a significant amount of weight off though.

I suppose "virtually" leaves a lot of wiggle room for interpretation. lol. It's still got a stock k-member/ a-arms/ stock type steering/ no fiberglass parts.

I wouldn't want to do anything that would be hard to remove, but K-members and hoods etc. are all bolt on stuff. It's a slippery slope though... lol
