22% of people polled on ESPN believe that Vicks punishment was too harsh! I would like to suggest at this time that all those people be treated just like those dogs Vick and associates fought and then we can re-ask the question right before we drown them for poor performance.

Im with you at the end of the day it was only a dog DEER + DOG = animal . 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other, but you got quarterback so call thug hodlum etc. thats what you get. Since where on this subject I remember a few years ago when Mike Vick was really excelling at QB all of the commentators bashed him for being a running QB and not being smart. Th e same people now voted Tim Teabow heisman trophy and all of a sudden its all right to be a running Qb.

Hunting deer with a license is legal last time I checked. Also when a high power hits a deer it is usually generally dead rather quickly and some people use the meat for food. (I am not a deer hunter by the way but have many friends that are)

To me dead is dead, whether its slow or fast. They are both 4 legged animals with feelings. They eat, sleep, s h i t, pee the same way. Killing dogs is nothing that I condone, but I don't feel its worth jail time. They were going to put down Pitbulls here in Toronto over the summer because they felt these where not city dogs and there was reports of these dogs jumping/bitting school kids. Give a very heavy fine as punishment. The endorsements etc he will lose in the process should be more then enough. If he was some regular Joe off the street and got caught it would not be advertised this much. But because he is in the limelight, he is the focal point. This guys carreer is done like he actually killed a human. Just doesn't make sense to me. He is not a bad guy, he just made a bad choice. We do the same with our Buicks exceeding the speed limits on streets. Doesn't make us a bad guy, just mean we made a bad choice. And you can say its not the same, but what happens if you actually kill somebody because the car got outta control??

How many animals do you really think he injured or killed in his shameless dog fighting games. We only know the ones reported. He's just an animal himself so I guess its no suprise. Any Pro athlete who would subject a defenseless animal to that for entertainment purposes should be banned from the NFL for life. If they can ban Pete Rose for life for gambling then how could they not ban this animal for life from the NFL for his actions.

BTW, thats a really poor analogy. What two grown men WILLINGLY want to do to each other for entertainment or monitary gain purposes has nothing to do with dog fighting. I argued this before, and opened a big can of worms. People get attached to dogs so it's labeled wrong. Thats really all there is it to it. Dog meat isn't that good(very tough) so eating them isn't popular like deer,cow, pigs etc.

He would have received a very light sentence, but he smoked pot just days after he told the judge he would not use drugs. He then lied about the drug use after being caught. He also lied numerous times to the prosecutor after he said he would fully cooperate. The sentence is harsh but it more closely reflects his behavior prior to being sentenced, and has less to do with the crime itself. Vick is a scumbag, like many pro sports players, and deserved the sentence he received. HE EARNED IT!!!

Do you really think that torturing an animal for hours before it dies is the same thing as taking an animal to the vet to be euthanized?

If Somebodys stupidity on the street killed my family....yes , they made a bad choice. But different choices get different outcomes. People who chose to torture animals and call it a SPORT deserve the consequences they receive just like someone who would kill your mom hotrodding on the street deserves whatever the justice system gives him.

I don't think people realize how cruel a dogfight is...I do, firsthand. These animals are made to pull each others legs, lips, eyes, tails, guts and any other part they lock onto.... off.
If the animal shows any fear or hesitation they are killed...along with any of there puppies. "No room for punk ass dogs in my camp"....
These fights can last for hours and if the winner is injured along the way he gets treated to homemade stitches with neosporin. If he unfortunately has a broken bone he gets the extra special attention of being tied to a tree or left alone in a box for weeks.
To say that its the same as MMA is ridiculous. I promise that if these dogs were raised by loving families they would make great, loyal additions and not show the killer traits that azzhole rednecks like Vick bring out in them.

As a nation we are so stupid that we outlaw a breed instead of upholding the laws on the books and punish people who make animals this way. Its like banning alcohol because drunk drivers kill families on the street. Throw the people who break the laws in jail as a deterrent...don't close the liquor store.
