Im curious on the property tax's in Va.How are the gun laws in Va.I coulda looked it up, but theres a buncha BS filled in between, Wanna know from Virginia residents!! I lived in VA Beach for 15 years during the 70's-88. VA's personal property taxes were enough to convince there's no way I wanted to retire there. So I ended up here in East TN.

Haha more then NJ's I doubt it !!!

Im looking to get a 50acre or bigger lot, so obviously taxes will determine alott!!

If you like traffic, you could move to Northern Va! Seriously though, central Va is a great place for what you are looking for. I have a weekend place in Colonial Beach, which is a half hour east of Fredericksburg and midway down the Potomac between DC and the Chesapeake Bay. The Rappahannock river parallels the Potomac and there is plenty of land around it. Google Tappahannock Va, it's blooming town.

I have lived in central Va all my life. The first 25 years in Dinwiddie County and the last 14 across the river in Chesterfield County. I love it, but I really don't have anything to compare it to. Land is more expensive in Chesterfield, but I feel the county has more to offer than some others. The real estate taxes in Chesterfield is 95 cents per $100 of market assessed value. Some surrounding counties are cheaper. My parents farm land taxes in Dinwiddie are much cheaper. My wife is a nurse and she works for a state mental hospital. She is always talking about how they are always looking for nurses there and at the prisons. You can search the zip codes 23838 and 23805 for land and home prices.

Sweet thanks guys!! I been trying to dial in a location and learn more about it!!!I will check out these area's !!And yea im happy i became a nurse.. Can work in any state!!!New jersey is just a horrible state.. its becoming a frigging concrete jungle!!

We live in Central Virginia in Orange County, west of Fredericksburg. The real estate tax here is 49 cents per 100. There is NO emission test crap to go through here in Orange County.

The gun laws are just great and so are the cops...real nice guys. The hunting and fishing....well, there's Lake Anna State Park just a little ways from us with all the fishing you can do, boat rentals, even camp out.

I was raised in the Northern Virginia area (Alexandria) but spent most of my time growing up at both of my grand parent's homes...Rock Hall, Md where I hunted ducks, helped Grand Dad fish and crab on the bay for money, and on the big farm on the Choptank River in Md, my Mom's parents, where I learned how hard work can kill you by farming.

I've loved Virginia all of my life...you should move to Orange County if you want to save on taxes, the houses are very reasonably price. If you want, give me your address and I'll go out and hunt down real estate books for you, or log onto it via Internet.

We are just a little ways from the Wilderness Battlefield. And we have woods everywhere here. It's beautiful...I count my blessings everyday, believe me.

So, come on down. Don't be to hard on New Jersey, I've a famous cousin from there, plus I'm sure Tony Soprano would not like to hear that from you. So be careful.

I used to work up at Ft. Monmouth, not bad, but the salt on those roads in the winter are killers!!!! Every frame from cars out of Jersey are like the Titanic!! And the Jersey Turnpike:eek: like the Indy 500 raced by blind people!!!

There's a correctional center about 20 miles from our house..Coffeewood Correctional Center, level 2, and they are hiring. Right in the middle of mountians and land.

Well, I live in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake area and I like it here. Lots to do, see......hunting and fishing is good here and we have a few correctional facilities near by. There is plenty of fresh and saltwater fishing nearby......want bass, we got 'em. Want tuna and flounder......got them too!

Property taxes aren't too bad either.......AND there are 3 drag strips within 90 minutes!!!!

My buddy bought a house in Northern VA. Woodbridge

As far as cars go He says North VA its tougher on car inspections than southern VA. So that could be a reminder of NJ to you.

Also N Va is more Expensive But due to DC has BIG JOB market.

I don't think I could take the heat in the summer and no italian joints to eat at.

Phil Don''t come NORTH. The NY & NJ folks that moved to NH are make it Jersey North. :( BUMMER
