I need a volt meter. I know I should get a digital. I was going to get a Craftsman Pro. (Still have a Sears gift card from X-mas) Meter would be used mostly for automotive. Anyone with any imput or recomendations ?
Thanks

check these out I have one in every car in my shed and @ work LOL they do the job I compared it to my co-workers who payed over $160.00 for his Fluke and it was just as acurate ! copy and goggle this ITEM 90899-0VGA also I do have a Harbor Frieght store close buy you may have shop online .

Just checked it out. My brother in law is an electrican and said all he will use is Fluke. I am going to have to get one of these just to test it against his $300 meter. Thanx

Got two Flukes here but they aren't really needed for most automotive work.

Also use an analog FET meter sometimes too.

Simpson makes good old analog meters but they cost as much as digital ones.

I just looked at the Craftsman Pro meter lots of features for the money and a good price too.

IF it's built well, don't know myself, (get a rubber case for it like the flukes have), and holds up well over time, it should be just fine for most household and automotive testing.

Good price for a true RMS meter. :)

Didn't read all the specs. and ranges but if you have a gift card it probably will work out fine for ya.

Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices I bought one and took it to work and the "electronic specialist" checked it out on some fancy rig and said that it was accurate. So I now have one in the garage, basement and my computer repair briefcase. Nice to have around the Buick and when trouble shooting anything and everything.
Edit: ok so I just checked out the link in post #2 and it's the same item... lol

I've got a Fluke(strickly for electronics work) that's as accurate as the day I got it, over twenty years ago. See how long that chinese crap from Harbor freight lasts. Amprobe makes some fairly inexpensive multimeters, that are pretty rugged. I've had one of those(just like this- http://cgi.ebay.com/Amprobe-Digital...yZ50961QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), bouncing around in my automotive tool box(without a rubber case), for a few years too. (Byram Labs - Amprobe Multimeters) (amprobe multimeter, Business Industrial, eBay Motors items on eBay.com)

I use a Fluke 88 everyday at my job. Best meter for any automotive type work. It's a little pricey new, but check ebay. They are set up to do volt, amps, ohms, temp, and RPM's.

Oh I agree about the harbor freight chinese crap statement. But for someone like myself, I may use it 10-15 times a year.... The guys at work just shook there head at me when I told them I paid about $5 for it....

I know those prices are attractive. But- I like better odds when I need a piece of equipment, or a tool, to be working(and not fall apart in my hand) when it's required. Maybe I just place too much value on my time.;)
