BUT to answer your question if you dont want A/C you can use the GN engine. If you want A/C then you have tohave all the TTA specific parts.

Get a GN engine...

Much easier to find, parts are more available. Some TTA parts are non exsistant, and the parts people do have they want an arm a leg for them.Paul Ferry at H&R parts is solving this probem now.He is putting together a kit that will bolt right in to a thirdgen car.The biggest hurdles for a home swapper is the mounting of the engine to the crossmember as the TTA engines have brackets and mopunts specific to fit this year car.You have the holes for the frame pads already on your excisting crossmember.I picked up a set of frame pads for a $100 which was good since I really need them anyway.About the only thing you will need is a custom downpipe and a adapter for a 700r4 trannsmission.Im not sure about the GN vs TTA motor mounts but I think with the GN mounts the engine will sit slightly lower in the engine bay, this is good since when you make the custom downpipe you will have to go up and over the headers and down the firewall where the ac is no more. With the TTA engine and headers setup the motor will sit up a little higher and the way the headers are made the downpipe goes under the passenger side header.Call up Jack Cotton,he has a few for sale often comeplete.I expect the kit will be out in the next few months.About the only wiring you will need is a TTA harness, which will plug right into your firewall C100 harness.Im in the middle of a swap now,so Im learning new stuff everyday.Im just getting everything painted and cleaned to be put in.

Hey Darren did you try plugging in the stock GN enigne harness to the firewall? I was wondering if it would work out since GM uses the same connectors on many different cars.

Mako,No I didnt ,but you can tell side to side the TTA harness to the Ttype one the connector is different. The TTa harness connector to the C100 harness is the same as the factory Iroc one I had in there from factory, and the T type one is totally different.Plus where it goes threw the hinge piller in the passenger side to the computer the TTa harness is once again a direct snap in as there is a holder there for the harness to pass threw,I think the T type has a rubber plug the harness passes threw.I refer to the connector on the firewall as the C100 harness because this is what GM denotes it as.No I only have to get my hands on a TTA wiring diagram for the harness and I will be all set.I will be taking pictures soon of the project to show what I am doing.

Darren,
Are you using a 200r4? I was wondering what driveshaft to use. I'm thinking It'll have to be the one out of the Ttype custom cut/balanced. . I pulled the wiring harness out of the ttype last weekend, going to try to use it instead, already spent most of my budget for the swap on other things! How are you going to direct air to the intercooler? I'm thinking I'll cut that flap under the radiator and build a lexan scoop to go behind it to direct the air to the IC.

Roc87,you can most likly reuse the stock driveshaft from the 700r4.The 1/4 inch difference in the plate is not much and can be taken up in the driveline.Just wait for H&R parts to release the kit and it will simplify a lot.On the TTa harness contact grumpy on the board he has a few to sell, will save yourself alot of wiring headaches.I dont know what Ill do with the dam,if the Factory TTAs have them in place I will leave mine also.Ill keep everyone updated on my progress soon as I get a new digital camara.

thanks 4 the info i have 87 gn thinking of parting out rusted bad and i have a 92 25th camaro in good shape combine the two and ive got somthing new

The wiring harness for the TTA is very different how it goes through the firewall. I have a brand new harness that I bought from GM dealer, still in the box, now trying to sell it. Asking $475.00. I am at the GS NATs in kentucky right now, & have it with me to sell if interested. Ron

anyone looking to do the swap...

Grab that harness, its a deal and will save you headaches on top of headaches trying to adapt a Gn harness.new one goes for $750:D

Wiring/Swap

We have done two of these swaps. Excellent choice.
I have made all the F-body factory gauges work and mated the stock GN harness to the stock F-body harness. Anyone needing assistance in this please E-mail me with specific problems I can lead you through the wiring problems and swap questions.
Glad to help ~Scott @ Power Concepts,Inc. (574)266-7697

Good Luck!:D

Hey Darren,
You used TTA mounts didn't you? I'm almost certain I can use the frame pads off my Ttype on the camaro, but last week when I tried lining up the pads on the crossmember of the camaro, at best I could only line up 2 of the 3 bolt holes. Any ideas? TIA

Pads to Crossmember.

Roc.. your going to have to weld them in place. Or drill holes for them. We welded them up when we put the engine in where we wanted it. I have some new pic's that i'll e-mail you today on where to position the engine in the bay.
Talk to you soon, Scott~

Thanks Scott, that's what I was figuring that's what I'd end up having to do. I'll just get the tranny in place (Tranny mount to crossmember/torque arm set up) bolt up the motor mounts to the pads and drop the motor in, bolt it up to the tranny and just weld away! As an added benefit I won't get grease/dirt in my eye from trying to get the pads to the frame bolted in!

;)

If you've ever tried to actualy "unbolt" the stock stuff with all the controll arms in the way of holding the bolts in where even the shortest 15mm wrench just can't go you know exactly what i mean. Welding is the way to go.. You know it's not going anywhere.. I sent you some pic's of the mounts in place.. hope that helped.. ~Scott:D
