was running at 17 pounds of boost, now its 12, need help

i had my car out this mourning and it seemed to be running ok then i decided to get on it and it wouldnt go past 12, i used to be running 16.5 to 17. when i got home i looked at all the intercooler hoses for any possible leaks and they all look fine. what else could cause that big of a boost drop? could a bad wastegate solenoid cause a lose of boost?

Yes a bad selnoid can cause this.Bad ecm also,best way to check is to disconnect the hose from the actuater and test.Be very carefull, the boost may run wild!If it does start to lift! It is one of the two for mentioned.Jim

You may also want to check for a cracked header. Cracked headers can cause you to lose boost since that is what is turning the exhaust wheel on the turbo. No Exhaust = No Boost!

thanks guys for your help, im gonna mess with it tomarrow, i hope i find something. if i diconnect the hose off the actuator and the boost goes crazy this tells me that the solenoid is bad?
