Wastegate Lines, Is this right?

Is this the correct routing for the wategate lines coming from the turbo, to and from the boost controller to the wastegate? I have switched these lines around, moved the boost controller closer to the turbo so I would not produce any boost, I am still running around 25 lbs with the controller turned all the way up, changed controllers, and this is my 2nd wastegate I have put on here, still pushing 25 lbs of boost. I am going crazy with this problem. If I keep it up, I am going to blow a headgasket or worse, I just can't keep my foot out of it..LOL

Yes thats the correct way to run the line with a wastegate and using a controller. What that is called is Open-Loop.

But lets say you want to run on JUST the spring rating, then run a line from the compressor to the bottom/side port of the wastegate. That is called Closed-Loop.

I run Open Loop on my car, I have a Tial 38mm wastegate on the crossover pipe and an old turbonetics controller knob that is in my glovebox. I dont even have the knob turned to have my boost increased, since i have a 26lb spring in my wastegate, and it doesnt creep one bit at all. Goes to 26 and stays there, ROCK SOLID.

You may want to put some zipties on the barbs...you never know when or if the lines may blow off one of those and you'll boost will go to 9999+++


What kind of wastegate is that? It looks like a fake Tial, also what spring rating are you running? Also, whos controller is that? (If you read what i said earlier about the way to raise or lower boost with the controller)-Realized that isnt the same controller as mine, looks like it but after close inspection it isnt...DOH.

I have to turn my controller out to lower the boost. Think of it like this....
on your compressor, when you turn the knob out, it lowers the psi right?? and when you tighten it, it makes the psi go up. That controller works the same way. That is the right routing of the lines, putting the controller closer to the turbo makes no difference. that is a knock off tial style wastegate, but they work GOOD! I have one on my elky. I took off my hks, and put on a buddys just like yours, alot quieter, and holds boost just as good as a 450$ controller. loosen up that know bro..

Ok, I was just double checking myself. I just put the lines on, to take the pics, I will tie them down when I install a tubonetics wastegate. This wastegate is coming off. I have switched the lines around and it is still doing the same crap. Boost is out of controll.. Thanks. Appreciate the info.

Is the reg. pointing in the right direction,? turn the reg all the way counter-clockwise go for a ride punch it ,boost gauge will give you the reading of the spring rate of the wastegate. Then once that's eatablished turn reg clockwise to bring boost up.

Yea, I have done all that, still boost is too high.. I just got a new wastegate, applied tech, I have found out that my wastegate is not mounting to the downpipe correctly. There is a slight bend in the upper flange causing an exhaust leak around the upper flange. I believe this exhaust leak in causing my wategate not to open and close properly. PM me if u have any suggestions. Thanks!

What size spring are you running? Rule of thumb: Do not run spring pressure more than twice the boost psi you plan on running. Example: If you want to run 20 psi dont put a spring with pressure higher than 10 lbs. This is for the setup you are currently running...top & bottom port of WG connected.

Or you can do what Adam(Jurassic) says and run just the bottom port connected with the exact spring pressure equal to your max boost.
Your connections are correct it must be your spring pressure thats off or your WG is getting stuck and letting your boost build up.
