moisoniette

it's hard to tell, in the report i mentioned the reporter took serveral large stones into the diamond district somewhere by new york ( not in NY but across the hudson ) and several dealers with tons of experiance couldn't tell the difference. the company could even put carbon and inclusions in them to throw someone off that may know about them and not test them with a tester to detect them being moisoniette. it was crazy and i'm sure that company made alot of money for about a yr because of their product and testers but there isn't a market for stones that are fake diamonds. i saw another report like i'm talking about and it was saying there are companies that are making man made diamonds to use in CPU's. says they conduct heat better and transfer data faster on processors without the failure you can get with what's on the market now. just more useless info i have up in the old noggin. i swear i remember some of the most useless info as i'm no longer in the feild and far from a CPU tech.

my wife bought me a breitling bentley edition. its great there are some ways to figure it out but copies are getting better and better... i know my model and the differences which model are you referring about.......

i know exactly where the diamond district is. I was just there before this last deployment, hangin' out on pass.
And purchased by the Iraqi army? Ya know, saddam did a lot of crazy things back then. You should have seen some of his palaces there. He was...shall we say, not very thrifty lol. It could very well be real lol.

For ****s and giggles, post a picture of said watch. I'd like to see it. Post a non glared photo of the dial (the face of the watch) the endlinks (the actual part on the back of the watch, that has the springbars running thru it, that attaches it to the lugs on the case) and the SIDE of the band, right before it connects to the clasp.
From there, if I can't tell, then you'd have to take it in. But I bet you we can tell from the photos.

As a breitling owner myself, I say watch for the movement, serial number, B engraved on the bezel, and around the clasp, the watch should also be very heavy not light like most knock offs, the movement should be about 5 clicks for every 1 second just like the rolex it should be nice and smooth, if at any time the movement skips then its a fake.. ;)

true about the weight but i've cracked cases open on watches and a few had lead weight on the back to give it added weight. most of the bad knock offs i could tell by the band, and just a few other things including the movement. but it takes yrs of exp to get to know them along with what counterfeiters do to try and make their stuff look better.

as for the diamond district, in the said special there is one overseas ( not sure which country ) but they were serious about security. had large round bars that came out of the ground and were hydralic and could take a beating from a large truck. sorry for jacking the thread just thought i would add a few things i knew about the moisoniette. agreed that pics would be your best advice if you want help from a few of us on here.

I would to like to have a nice watch. What would be a great one to start out with? I prefer all metal and possibly a chronograph. I really don't like plain or basic dials. :D

what's your area you want to pay? if your into the 200-400 range then i'd go seiko or citizen. i own roughly 20 chrono's all along those brands and never have had any problems with them. they can take a beating and rarely scatch if you wind up working on something with it on. don't go cheap and if you have a factory outlet close to you check the seiko online store and look for one close to you. i've bought a few from them for 90-150. you can always check some local pawnshops. you can usually find some of the watches i've said in there. ran into the newest citizen skyhawk in there for 200 when they retailed for 600. had a bad chip on the crystal but i had it replaced and cleaned. came out real nice, just an idea, don't know what your trying to spend but that might help you if your just getting into them. also a few other names invicta makes a decent watch, some of the higher end pulsars are ok if you don't want to drop alot.

He's exactly right. Seiko or citizen. The Japanese watches have REALLY come up in the last 20 years. How they do it for the money is beyond me. If you want an outstanding watch for good money, get what most of us watch guys get. A seiko black monster. skx779. Watch amazon for a sale. They're easily a 250 dollar watch. I scored mine for 135. Get it on bracelet, not rubber. In my opinion, it's the best thing goin for under 300 dollars. All day.
If you want better, (which again, imo, they're not that much better.) look for seikos sumo, or samurai. They're not terribly busy looking watches, but they're not plain either. You don't want a nice watch, that is soo nice, that you're afraid to wear it. When you see the pictures, don't get intimidated. It looks big, but it's not. It wears nice, and can go perfect with casual clothes, or a suit. The good thing about a monster, is that you won't break it. Guaranteed.
