A TE44 has a compressor minor diameter of 2.29" while the TE60 is 2.32" (the major diameters, which you have to take the compressor cover off to measure, are 2.95" and 3", respectively). You got 2.355" or 0.035" over the 60 wheel, which could be you not all the way down on the taper or just the clearance between wheel and housing if you measured the housing. On the turbine side it's a little more confusing. Precision's web site does not list the old TA/TE61 turbos any more, and they list a different turbine wheel for the TE44 and the TA/TE60 while other sources in the past said that these used the same turbines (PTE actually lists a smaller turbine for the TE/TA60 than the TE44). The wheel I expected them to list for the TE60 (the wheel used on the TE44), has a minor diameter of 2.228", which with .052" of clearance matches what you measured. So my conclusion is that you do have a TE60. The wastegate hole probably still needs to be enlarged, though, or you might have boost creep problems.
