hey guys i hope someone might have run into a similar problem and may be able to help me here. i have a 87 grand national t top car. i recently restored t top area completly and insatalled new seals. also just put in new windshield and completly sealed that area. my problem is on passenger side of car up under dash there is a body seam that runs above ac box area under the dash in vacinity of glovebox .well on hard rains i get water seapping in along that seam and dripping down to floor board . now i have done t tops windshield. and seam sealed every body seam under the hood but still get water in. i can not duplicate this with a hose to make it leak . and am at my wits end. i am waiting on this problem to finish putting my interior back together . if anybody has run into a similiar problem or has any ideas i will be greatful as hell
thanks guys
john

i think youll find a lot of people with this problem, have you checked the seal around were the heater core goes. i know for a fact that thats were mines leaking.

the seal around the heater core is cracked. get some silicone and some seal and spray with undercoating will work awesome. i had same problem could not get thing to leak with hose

I had a Grand Am that did the same thing. Drove me crazy. I found a trail where the water would run down the inside of the firewall in the car. I made a little pocket out of silicone in line with the water trail and drilled a drain hole inside the pocket. Never had another problem.

thanks for helping guys i also seam sealed everything under the hood including around where the heater core is that is why this is driving me crazy. i also went under the car where the drain for the air intake is for the ac and heat and sealed up under there . anymore ideas will be greatly appreciated.
thanks guys

windshield maybe? i havent had time to mess with my water leak problem yet.ill be watching this thread.:D

no windshield was just replaced and sealed as well as t top area being repaired .sealed and new weatherstrip.??????????

has to be heater box. seal it well and make sure you have 3m undercoating over the silicone. also make sure where the grating is there is nothing stuck in there i.e leaves etc. you have the take the whole damn thing apart as if you were re doing the heater core. when the core is out you reseal the whole damn area then spray with undercoating. this solved it for me as it would rain it would seep through the cracks and down toward the ecm.

thats what im thinking. i know for a fact when i did my heater core over about 5 years ago, when i put it back together i didnt do such a good job resealing it, hell, it was real cold out.i just wanted my heat back.:D

the only thing with that is the water comes in just below the dash. literally under it where if you take the glove box off there is a body seam up high just under the dash that is where it seems to weep in?????

I had the same problem except that a water hose would cause the leak. My drain in the bottom of the a/c box was plugged with leaves & gunk. I did the total removal of the top of the a/c box & figured out I did it the hard way. Remove the blower & reach in to find the drain ( it's about 1" by 4" & has a rubber flap on it) & dig the gunk out.

yeah well the water starts at top and runs down. take apart the whole heater box and start resealing may be 3 hrs max but you ont have one leak. there are a few bolts you have to take off wiper arms and sprayers as well ass the weatherstripping and stuff thats the problem i am 100% pos it did the same thing when it came to water test it didnt leak with hose but it would with rain.
