water temp sensor location ??

went to install my new VDo water temp gage. instructions say to look for the block drain plug, on driver side, just below the head, & put the sensor in it's location. Problem is...can't find the plug. Is it on the pass. side behind the starter?? Or is there a better location?

I have an 85 stock intake and had my mechanic install the VDO gauge as well. Standing in front of the car, the fitting is below and a little to the right of the thermostat housing on the front of the engine. Let me know if you need more help. Brad

Not all of the blocks have that plug on the drivers side for some reason i didnt had to do same as brad

I have mine in that location as well - just below thermostat housing. Its in this pic - the sensor with the red wire - its an Autometer sensor. I just unplugged the single green wire and discarded the old overtemp sensor (for your idiot light only) - now that I know exactly what temp my car is !
