I have surveyed 3 possible spots on the down pipe.
1. up in the engine bay at about the 2 o-clock position just forward of the A/C accumulator, so if you're standing next to the car it's pointing at you leaning outward. Too much heat here?
2. a few inches further down at about the 11 o-clock position closer to the A/C box and leaning somewhat toward the engine, but still not too badly interfering with a plug change. Too hot here?
3. Down near the bottom of the pipe about a foot from the end on the inside of the pipe pointing inward directly at the engine. Probably no heat issues there.
I have no test pipe, just a fake cat, so mounting it on the a test pipe is out of the question. Besides, at the track I like removing it and running an open downpipe.
I have what appears to be a fairly heavy duty bung, that I got out of my friend Scot W. LC1 box when I installed his. He already had a bung and didn't need it.
Question: Is it better to mount it "on" the pipe, or make the hole large enough to submerge the bung a little?
