Hi - Looking for some help.
I have a 1989 TTA that I am restoring and I am having trouble getting the engine to run well. I have fixed many things and my latest problem is that I have discovered that the spark is very weak. An in-line light is pulses very dimly and it won't even light my old-school timing light.
Being in Australia, we have plenty of access to the Buick 3.8 engines as they were fitted to Commodores for a long time - I have a few of these cars / engines and the spark on these are very healthy - sparks will jump from an uncovered coil stud to nearest earth more than an inch away.
For the TTA, I have made up a jumper loom and wired LEDs in to show that the Cam and Crank sensors are working. The DFI is getting power. Everything seems ok. I bought a new coil and a new DFI (an AC Delco one) and nothing changes.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Derek
