ok I took of the inspection cover today. Didn't touch the TC bolts though. I'll let Eric touch that. I didn't see any cracks on the flywheel so I'm sure its somewhere in the converter. I'll find out next week and let you know what the problem was.

I think he'll be back on Monday.

Lets say the sound is coming from the torque converter and they have to bring it down. Can the converter be taken down without dropping the tranny down?

talked to Eric today and he said he'll do some pressure tests on the tranny and take it for a road test. He said its definitely coming from the converter(I knew it!). He'll check if the tranny is in good condition and make sure its running properly. After that he'll recommend to me what he's gonna do. Good guy!:D

Here's an update.

Eric said its definitely the converter and needs to be replaced. He offered me a 10.5" 3200 stall Pro Torque converter but I told him I just don't have the budget for that so I settled for a 12" 2800 stall converter. The Pro torque was 700 and the 12" was $349. The labor to drop the tranny and put it back up was $195(is that a good price or too much?). So everything is gonna come out to $640 I think. 12" 2800 stall should be good enough for a TE51 right?

Why not give Pat's convertors in Folcroft, PA a call? My 10/11 is about 3300 stall and he makes a very good 3000 stall for our cars in lock-up. You want 3000 with that turbo. He gives you a free stall change and will stand behind the convertor 100%. Will freshen it every year or so with a new clutch for $75.00.

Got my car back from Eric today. Car is running good. No more ticking noise(thank God! Was very annoying!). I feel less turbo lag with the 12" 2800 stall. I'll probably get the 10.5 Pro Torque from Eric next year. Thanks for the suggestion anyways.:)

Found my ticking noise today. I pulled the pump apart and there it was , a cracked pump rotor. Rebuilt the trans using Bruce's parts, and it looks like I'll need to order more:eek: Glad to hear you got yours fixed.
