Weird tranny question

When cruising around at say 45mph, not WOT or even close and I lift of the acc. pedal, my trans downshifts for a second then goes back in gear. I watch my scanmaster and I'll be at say 1800 rpm in O/D, then take my foot off the gas and I'll get 3000+rpm for one frame then it goes back into the 1xxx range. I can hear it doing it too, just wondering why it is. I know, I've got almost 80K on the trans now and has never been rebuilt as far as I know, maybe she's just a little tired. If anyone can calm my fears that my trans isn't going to die tomorrow, I would really appreciate it. TIA

That is odd. I dont think you have any "major" trans trouble altho I probobl;y just inflicted bad luck or carma upon you. Sorry
However try a tv adjustment and maybe service trans and look for anything unusual.
And again , sorry bout the bad carma...
