Dammit My work is installing some crazy hitec firewall so you basicly can not do anything expect pre approved work related websites, a total of about 5 work related sites only no link functions, no proxy, no go to my pc pinging, (yeas I got around the current one;) ) oh well time to get some books. :( :(

They tried to do that to me too. I had it easier than most people. Since I do car related work it was a piece of cake to get the block lifted from this site and the others. Heck the IT guy would have let me watch porn if I had a good excuse. I found another way around it too. It works most of the time anyway. I cant explain it exactly but if I enter in the home page in a search it blocks me. But if I enter in a page location on the sites address than I can get in. For example I like to check the lottery numbers. I'm blocked from the home page so I emailed from the house a link to the weekley winners. I can get in that way. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to view the pics on a hmtl posted in a thread here. I cant see the pic. Only at work. Most if not all of the host sites are blocked.I know they are there as I can see the address if I post on a quote. I see them from the house.

yeah thats how our old fortigaurg / fortinet was but I was chatting with the install guy trying to pry for info as he has not made it to my station yet and its pretty much fool proof he clams its the same setup the Federal goverment uses at the fbi/ cia and such. It will log everything key strokes, times, users, pattern typing and site access to shut down and alert admins if it fells like the wrong person is logged in under someones access. Whwta a buch of crap guess I'm buying a laptop and unlimited access card there goes another $50.00 a month on my car habit.

Do what a pal did:

Take cheap/older laptop to work.

Plug into any telephone jack for dial-tone (two-plug adapter).

Sign on to any of the budget ISPs.

Oh, keystrokers and datta loggers don't see arrows,or inset BUTTONS. I do know what they see, and of course for every action is a reaction. Just have to find it. HTH's

I work for an aerospace company that is owned by a major aerospace company, and started running into the same or a very sililar problem. THey installed a "ISpy" computer program called Bel-Tec, or something very similar, and one day I noticed while on a document that I was typing in word program, every time that I brought up the document, it increased a # that was aded to the document name. So bottom line, if I brought up that document 5 times during the day to make corrections and / or additions, it was tracking how many times that I was opening up the document. I immediatley became suspicious, as I am definitely not one of their "favorite", we love employee # blah, blah, blah, found where the icon was at the lower right hand of the page, and found that I could exit the program. I use a portable hard drive program at work rather than store any of my documents on their local drives, and the first thing in the early a,m when I booted up my computer and plugged in my portable hard drive, I "exited" the Beltec program. Still doing the same thing. Yes, big brother is watching, and when he's not, big sister, or aunt or uncle or somebody is copying your every move. Not funny.

And watch those USB drives!!

They also run programs to "back up" all those usb drives you plug into computers. It just dumps it out onto a company file server for viewing later. TRUST me, I know it is run where I work. We have this one VP in HR that won't store anything on the network...or so he thinks it's not on the network:)

The companies you work for are trying to keep you honest while on their time.
