Pretty neat... My uncle had two extra tickets, and asked if I wanted to go.
Traffic was unfreakin' believeable! 4 hours to get in - 4 hours to get out. Sat in one spot for almost 2 hours without budging!

I sure was surprised at the condition of the track - very poor. Our highways look better then the road they were driving on! I was also surprised at how slow they seemed from the grand stands - they were damn fast, don't get me wrong... I just thought they would be faster after watching them on TV.

But, I'll take the top fuel drags any day of the week.

Scenery was worth it though:D It rained REAL good directly before and after the race... not many NASCAR girls wear bras :D :D ... they also tend to like white shirts

Guess I'll go in November too:cool:

Congrats..

I know AZ is a fairly old track. I think it was built in the 60s, if I remember right. Some tracks are like that... plenty of bumps and cracks. Some of the tracks they actually shave down to make smooth again, or just repave.

Nascar races aren't for everyone, but I'm glad you got to at least try it out. The scenery can be quite nice. As for the traffic, was there any type of shuttle system with satellite parking?? I've been to Dover a few times and they use that system there. Very well organized.

Where were you seated?

They had a shuttle from the general parking area - but it was not laid out with any sense... we were able to catch it in, but on the way out it was nowhere to be found until we were waiting to get out in the truck. It was the worst organized event I have ever been to - PIR really dropped the ball on this one. The only officers that were directing anything were to keep the tram lane open here and there.

People had no idea witch way to go - some were cutting across fields and would get stuck in dirt berms - there was nothing saying "exit" or go this way - anywhere until you hit the main road.

They had some shuttle parking - but no one knew anything about it except it cost $7... my uncle had been to many races here - and it had never been this bad before. He could not believe how screwed up things were. He said when they drove to Daytona - they did not have nearly as hard of a time and it is a way bigger event.

I was seated off of turn 2 - so we did not get to see any pit action.

I think if I go again - it will only be if we get tickets around the line - and get the radios so you can hear what is going on... because most of the time - we had no idea what happened:confused:

I had a good time, but the traffic caused us to be too late to use our pit passes:mad:

I dunno, all in all - I was glad to spend time with my family:D I'll do anything to be able to do that.

Like you said Vic, that was the worst planned event I have ever been to. We must have waited in traffic for two hours to move from the I-10 to the track!

The racing was good though, and the wind made for squirrely cars in the turns :D

As for the scenery, I almost like the day races better, because then the girls all wear bikinis ;)

No $hit!

Being an impound race, without the fine tuning, and as you said the wind - I was really surprised to watch them slide around turn 2 so much!

It was three hours (from 12:30 to 3:30) for us from I-10 to the track - 3 lanes down to one left hand turn - duh! who could not have seen that backup coming?

bikinis, huh? nice! D  :D
