Hey i think my TCC silonode is going out. What kind of symtoms would i be having if so? Also were is it located at, i think its insed the tranny pan right? Dose anyone know of a good brand to go to? Thanks
Brian

Yes, the TCC solenoid (<-notice spelling) is in the trani pan towards the front. There is a link on the gnttype.org website (if it is back up) to a real good step by step article on changing it. It isn't that hard.

I changed mine a little while back and went with original from GM. I think it was in the $50 range? Can't really remember.

I have noticed that if the converter is not locking, the turbo will spool easily in 4th gear. Easy way to tell if it is locking/unlocking...while you are going a constant speed in 3rd or 4th gear...easily touch the brake pedal with your other foot and you will notice the rpm's of the motor come up a bit. Once you let go of the brake pedal, the rpm's will go back down. I feels like an extra gear shift to me.

If you are experiencing something strange, you may want to take it somewhere. But ask around if you do. Not sure if the 85's are like the 87's, but not everyone knows these transmissions.

It's in the transmission on the drivers side. Just unplug the connector on it and drive the car around. When they are going it almost feels like your driving a stick shift car and when you come to a stop it feels like you need to push the clutch in or the car will stall. Just crawl under and unplug it and see if that helps. Then you'll know it's bad.

You will either have no lockup or the car will stay stuck in lockup and when you come to a stop it will bog the motor or even kill it. If it's stuck in lockup it's 99% for sure the solenoid. If it has no lockup it could be the solenoid, speed sensor, wiring, or a tranny problem.

just remember when you unplug the connector it may not change the problem. if the converter is locked up it will stay locked up( the problem is mechanical and not electrical) if it un locks or is not locking up it may be electrical problem.
they are simple to change i changed my a month ago took me 30minute or so.

Alright so i take it that it will be the only plug with wires going in to it on the tranny right? What my car is doing is i think staying locked in because if im in Drive and crusing around town and get up to say 55-60 in town i think thats when it is soposed to lock up and then i slow down to stop for a light it will bog down like i need to put the clutch in and then when i go to accelerate, it will act like a manual car in 4th gear, But if i manualy **** down to 2ed or 1st then it will drive just fine. Im about 90% sure its the sillenode going out or is out. I dont know what else it could be. And also what will i be looking for when i take off that connetor? Thanks for all the help and sorry about the spelling HAHA.

Hello again, Im going to be racing kinda a saterday night thing this weekend and i think my TCC is stuck on or kinda a intermented thing becuase sometimes it seems like its working just fine and sometimes not, Would it help my top end to just disconect the TCC on the tranny? It almost fills like when i get into overdrive at WOT it just kinda falls on its face but i can build boost again in 4th gear really easy. So maybe someone will have a good idea but let me hear alll of them Thanks
