I understand that some of the import racers are using nitrous to help spool large turbos at the line. I was wondering if anyone has used the NOS system on our cars to help spool up.

Thanks

If you want to use the nitrous as merely a "spool kit" (i.e. fairly small shot thatt turns off when a preset boost pressure is reached), you might be able to get away with spraying ONLY the nitrous in there and not worry about adding any fuel.

This makes it very simple.

But, it all depends on how rich your car runs down low. In my Dodge's case.....errr.....my friend's cars case I can easily spray a little N2O down low without adding any fuling at all. It doesnt take much nitrous to spool a turbo more quickly. My friend used only a 0.018" jet (which is theoretically about 15 hp worth of nitrous) and there was a noticable increase in boost pressure at a given rpm below the full boost threshold.

Thanks for the input. I was looking to set it up with a pressure switch to turn off the nitrous at 7 or 8 lbs of boost.

i, i mean my friend also is doing a similar thing. hes running a 50 shot off the line, untill about 15# is reached, he hasnt' gotten a hobbs switch wired in yet but its on the list of stuff to do. It works great. i went from 2.4 60' down to a 1.8, granted the torque converter has some major issues and all the nitrous really does is makes up for what the torque converter lacks. i, i mean my friend, went with the wet system. its not much more dificult to put in, only costs a bit more, and there is nothing better for bracket racing when you don't know what to dial the car in. and if your ever loosing to something you really want to beat, all it takes is a little push of a button.

but for spool up, you can't beat it.

i think we do! did you hear that he burnt up a spark plug last week? i'm thinking its too much boost & nitrous , i don't think the two combined work all that great. i'll step it down to a 35 or so shot and see if that works out, but i can say going from the 40 to a 50 really did help spool up. i mean thats what I was told;)

i'm afraid to see the tops of the pistons, thats ok the motor is getting rebuilt this winter anyways.

I have a friend that does that too. Sometimes, he even leaves it on for a full pass. :D
