High 8 to 9 sec cars?

duration and lift.

Just curious, not trying to steal anyone's combo.

Not yet sure of ET with my combo but i am running a REED cam 540 lift with 226 duration at .050, Waiting for my new GTQ76 to get here, then to the track i go

I assume that's a hydraulic roller?

Mine's 239@.050 with a tad over 600 lift. Solid roller.

I think it depends on the motor size.
Based on the size of Otto's Cam I would hope that his motor was a 23X. We have atually run a bigger cam on the stock block.
Nearing cam is a nice mild unit that would probably work well for a little street driving. We have run as big as 275 and .714 lift on a full stage two motor. The car made 1021HP with 600-1 HiFi.
Those turbos are junk with a set of 70s we would have 1500HP.
The car went 9.1 @ 150 with a lot left in the tune up and at about 3550lbs.

I wonder at what lift they really start to eat up the valve springs?

We ran the motor about 1 1/2 seasons and did not have a problem with the springs.

It is a hydraulic roller, I leave the valve adjustment right at 0 ,THe cubic inch end up being 249on a 3.8bore 3.625 crank.I cant fiind a set of solid lifters to fit htis block correctly, so Bobby at RPE may take a set of hydrualic rollers and modify them to make them solid

Cam size

In my stage 2 i have 258 254 @ 050, 650 gross lift with 1.65 T&D roller rockers. It made 746 rear wheel hp with 575 R.W.Torque. It is 256 cu.in. pte 88 4bolt turbo. Go figure! {Solid roller}

Tom,

Something seems very wrong with the numbers.
Who tunes the car???

Cams

Well mostly i do, [Timidly] As not to screw it up. In a 3400 lb. car it runs 9.20s @ 149+ 1.31- 1.35 60 ft. I know it should do better!

What dyno (type was it)?

I used a couple of RWHP calculators and they show you to have around 100 more hp.

From the weight and MPH given.

Tim,

I am sorry if my comment sounded like an insult.
I really wish you could get someone to help you with the tune up.
My comment was based on Cal Hartline making 930RWHP with Champion Heads.

Based upon what my heads flowed, I chose a 224/234 grind. On the Stage2 headed cars I would recommend something larger.

John: Those hp numbers were on a Mustang Dyno. I have seen more with a dynojet.

Cal,

Please do not tease me, what were your numbers on the dyno jet??? :D

I'll have to dig out the old dyno sheets. I know I didn't hit 1000. I also didn't get the boost nearly as high. The Dynojet didn't put enough of a load on the engine, so the boost was 5-10 psi lower.
