i have Nextel now and it sucks, i860 too! who's got what and how do you like it? customer service AND phone service

verizon is the only way to go in my area. contractors and some friends i know have nextel and i can never reach them.

just went to tmobile..

2 line(1 for me and 1 for my dad)

1000 minutes, long distance, mobile to mobile, nights & weekends, no roaming

all for $69.99

Best plan right now for 2 lines.

*side note* my new moto v330 phone has bluetooth. And so does my new prius hybrid (with the BLUETOOTH option). I can just have my phone in my car lying around, or in my pocket or whatever, and using my TOUCH SCREEN i can access my phone, phone book, make oppointments, BASICALLY everything you can do with your phone. For example ill pull up a persons name, then hit call, his/her vocie comes through my radio speakers, and you just talk like normal with out ever even touching your phone!

THIS IS TRUE HANDS FREE CONVERSATION! THE BEST PART IS YOU GET FLASHBACKS OF KNIGHTRIDER AND KIT. Because soon youll find urself talking to ur car, OR SO IT LOOKS LIKE.

Nextel(Sprint)...i850...Works well, specially the Direct Talk feature when you and a friend have no service...59.99 Unlimited incoming 700 plan, plus 200 bonus minutes..PLENTY of towers near me

Hey Anthony-
I just switched to Cingular. Ever since the Sprint / Nextel merger it seems like everyone in the Metro area is getting screwed.

Unfortunately, tmobile uses the same outmoded technology that Nextel does.
I think you lucked out if your service works everywhere you need it to.

I NEVER look at "plans" when making a cell phone decision or advising others on one. I look at the service provider and their available coverage, period.
(15 year cell phone engineering tech). Sorry, had to add my bonifidies.

I use sprint

Really dislike their customer service sometimes, but the plan (don't read this TurboDave ;) ) provides 750 anytime minutes, unlimited nighttime/weekends and unlimited sprint to sprint minutes and two phones for about $70 a month....I've been with them a long time and it has paid off.

If something goes wrong, god help you with the customer service. But when it goes well its sweet. :D

I had a thread about this several months ago. I can't remember which board. But what I seemed to get out of it in the end is that it is somewhat dependant on your area. Some networks are better than others in some areas.

Here in the mid-atlantic, I've found that my network (Cingular) works well, but Nextel seems to get better reception. Still, I'm happy with Cingurlar so far. I don't get good reception in the building I work in, but I get reception at my desk, so I just leave my phone there. The roll-over minutes work GREAT!! I never hit my limit.

I have a friend who is on Verizon and he told me what he pays a month because he goes over, and it's unreal. But I did like Verizon when I had them.

I think the only service I didn't like was T-mobile. I just found that there service network wasn't as large as the others. When I'd go camping I wouldn't get any reception. With Cingular, I get some reception. My friends with Nextel would get reception, NO PROBLEM!

I'm stuck with nextel since I'm a vol. fire fighter and we use it ALL the time. Supposedly about 1500 foot from my house there putting up a tower but that hasn't happened yet

If I could Id goto cingular but since my service is free Im not going to complain to much

Sounds a little like my Verizon plan, except mine is 800 anytime minutes, unlimited night/weekend and unlimited Verizon to Verizon minutes on two lines. First line is 59.99, second is 9.99. Something like that.
It may be more than some, less than some, it's of no consequence to me. I just know what carriers have for infrastructure, and if you do any traveling around the country like I do on occasion, it's comforting to go with the one that has the best overall coverage.

i use my phone as my main line, no home phone and use around 1100mins a-month. i was lookng back at verzion

I have Cingular with a $99 a month unlimited everything plan. I hate the service. The coverage area is great but reception is horrible. I had Nextel and when it worked, reception was great but I always went over my minutes even with the 3,000 minute plan.

had ATT (now cingular) ok then went to nextel more like nex time. not only crap service, but bad customer service (Pre Merger). now i got Verizon. best reception yet!
they all have bad spots some worst then others, pick your poison.

Not to pick on you but this quote it priceless..."coverage is great but the reception is horrible".

If you have trouble free service what's the importance of great customer service? If you have a great plan (like the above quote) and your phone service sucks what's the point? If you have great coverage but can't talk or use your cell who cares? Wouldn't you rather pay a fair price for a quality product?? I don't have the cheapest plan nor do I have "rollover" minutes or "walkie talkie" but Verizon is by far the BEST and most trouble-free cell service in the U.S.

I have personally seen my friends bounce around from T-Mobile, Cingular, Nextel and others only to see them completely satisfied with Verizon and stay with Verizon.

I require a tri-mode phone due to where I travel. Verizon works in almost all areas of Michigan's very rural upper peninsula whereas Nextel is useless everywhere up there. Some extremely rural areas are still only covered by analog service and some providers simply don't deal with analog anymore. Nextel is proprietary and will only get service from Nextel towers. Verizon (and the others may too) will work anywhere a digital or analog cell signal is available. I can't speak for the others but my Verizon service works ANYWHERE a standard cell signal is present. Did I mention that I rarely if ever drop a call?...I'm never switching unless they price me out of their market.

I don't know if this may apply to anyone, but I signed up for it and got a 20% discount from T-Mobile. It works for all carriers IF you are a Federal employee. Call your company and mention that you are a Federal Employee and under the Federal Telecommunications Act 1996; Discount to Federal Empl oyees Past and Present, they discount your cell phone bill.

Hopefully some of you can use it. :)

Tmobile here. Good reception and coverage nearly everywhere. I have a Razr now, my v300 worked better, but this one isn't such a PITA to keep in my pocket.
