Ok, I have a little problem...when I hit the power door lock button, the knobs go down...but not all the way. The door semi-locks (you can pull up on the handle and the door will pull out, but not completely open. If you manually push the knobs down, the door locks normally. Also, the factory security light DOES come on when you push the power locks. What's going on??? Is it the acuators or what?????

If you hit the button twice, does it work? Mine does that sometimes. Saw you out blasting around last friday. My old lady said she saw your car at Parkland, between two other cars with no room in between. Tisk, tisk. Good way to get door dings, dude. Parkland is the worst place to take a car. Take the bus or something. I won't let her drive the Lightning there, and she doesn't want to. Even her little crappy honda gets messed up there. You should stop by Saturday, we are putting the new intake on the GN, with the TE 45A, and new headers. And a bigger throttle body. I think thats it. Anyway, Its 2705 Judith dr. Call me up, I'll tell you how to get there. My buddy Aaron would be a good guy to get to know, he's gonna be selling a lot of good parts soon. My # is 359 9749, see ya.

My passenger side door does the same thing. I am hoping Pete Serio can fix it:)

Inside the door panel I think are a couple of pivot points for the wire arms and stuff that the solenoids actuate.

Perhaps some WD-40 then a coat of lithium grease might keep them a bit looser.

Mine do that every now and then too. Just double hit them with the button and they usually work okay.

Haven't been inside that door panel in years. :D

The previous owner installed aCHEAP alarm with door locks. It alwaysd gave me trouble. I finally removed it & am looking for a replacement. The cheap one needed many on off applications to lock or unlock the doors.
Last time I drove home with it installed - it went off while I was on the road. Siren screaming & lights flashing - kinda opened a lane for me to get through traffic. Lucky I didn't stop to shut it off as it had a starter cut off. I got home & the lock was frozen in the locked position & I had to use the NASCAR exit.

I have the same problem on my drivers side its probably just in need of a lil lube if you open, close, open real quick it will usually open right up

check the pivit points etc. and lube away

Hope that helps

My pass motor does the same thing did the oil and grease thing worked for alittle while but had gotten worse, the motor is probally getting weak because of age replace it with an aftermarker door lock actuator that going to cost you around $15-$20. I would check the relay on the passanger side dash make sure the connection is good and not getting rusted out.

I just had my door panels off for a complete rehab and replaced one of the lock switches and I think I know how you all might fix this problem. The switch has some crude metal springs in it that serve to make electrical contact and also return the switch to the center position. I'm guessing over time these springs (really just bent pieces of flat metal) stretch out a little. So the fix would be to bend them back into place a bit. Also might help to sand the contacts in the switch with sandpaper. Unfortunately, you gotta pull the door panels to do this.

the actuators are probably tired. i see a lot of this on newer GM cars. mine does it too, it can't be the switch because the locks are relayoperatd gottta go

Mine did that for a while on the driver side. I pulled the panels and lubed up both sides. Still did it once and a while. I took out the old Die Hard and put in a big Optima. They make a whole new noise now and have not missed since. How old is your battery?

My experience with the same whimpy action on getting the doors to lock started by replacing the door switches, no improvement. Replace the actuators. some improvement. Lube every moving part and contact surface, whole bunch of improvement.
